Every Rep Counts Part 2

Working toward the level of Unconscious Competence requires positive work ethic and dedication. It’s not enough to simply go through the motions. It’s not enough to simply “practice,” one must practice with the intention of improvement. As discussed in (Hitting It), “… requires you to be of two minds; both active participant and impartial observer”. You must strive toward mastering the skills and techniques yet be capable of self-evaluation and positive correction.

Here Coach Brian works a classic burn down drill alternating between rifle and pistol 1 shot at a time. Refining and perfecting the movements associated with draw stroke, grip, establishing sight alignment & sight picture, trigger control, follow through, holstering, transitions from rifle to pistol, consistent & repeatable application of 4 points of contact with his rifle, site offset compensation, etc.

Had a great time with Coach Brian, his wonderful bride Shelley, and Jeff on the range today. Worked primarily rifle short and intermediate distance stuff. Shelley had a great time whacking steel at an unknown distance while gaining confidence in her application of fundamentals, improvised shooting positions, and the usefulness of a 50m zero.
